Dear Don,

I am hopeful that this email finds you well and enjoying many gifts of sobriety, one day at a time.

As promised I am following up with the results from the 55th General Service Conference regarding our request for guidance in listing the Central Office Serving Native North American People.

Don, the Report and Charter Committee expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to review the request and had a full discussion on how they could best be of service.  After careful consideration the committee agreed to take no action at this time.

The committee considered placement of the Central Office Serving Native North American in the A.A. directories and felt that the scope of this office went beyond the scope of central offices and intergroups, which provide services to A.A. groups in their local communities.  The scope of the Central Office Serving Native North American People seemed to be broader and go beyond the scope of local central/Intergroup offices.

The committee also considered creating a different category in the A.A. directories but felt that this was not a widely expressed need and that the categories currently used in A.A. directories are appropriate.

The committee expressed great confusion regarding the role of NAIGSO as part of the Central Office Serving Native North American People.  The committee felt that the mission statement of NAIGSO, as presented in the organization’s Web site, does not appear to be consistent with the mission of central/Intergroup offices.

Later during the General Service Conference week, the Report and Charter Committee’s report to the full Conference provided an opportunity for a full Conference discussion.  The general sense of the discussion was of appreciation for the request and encouragement to continue to dialogue in search of a suitable solution.

In essence we have been asked to continue this dialogue and I am looking forward to working with you in this process.  I will maintain your office on my mailing list so you are abreast of the news and developments from G.S.O. and our Fellowship.

Please feel free to contact me at (212) 870-3282 if you have any questions regarding the information in this email.  In the meantime, all of us here send our very best wishes.

In fellowship,

Julio

Dear Julio,

Could I ask you to provide us an update on how we’re doing? Has the Conference Committee on Report and Charter decided where in the A.A. directories we’ll be placed? When we are placed in the directories will there be some sort of notification sent out to the fellowship that this has taken place?

We’re having a board meeting next Sunday, April 24th, and I would like to report on how your progress to help realize this service to the Native North American People.

In service,

Don W.

Dear Don,

Warm greetings from your General Service Office.

Following up on your request to list the Central Office serving Native North American People, I am pleased to have started this communication process and have added the information to our mailing list so I can continue to keep you abreast of the news from G.S.O. and our Fellowship.   I am also forwarding through the mail some materials which I hope will be useful in the efforts of the Central Office serving Native North American People.

In trying to determine where in the A.A. directories the Central Office serving Native North American People might be listed to better serve the Fellowship, I have asked for the guidance of the Conference Committee on Report and Charter, which has oversight of A.A. directories, and will meet during the General Service Conference in April 2005.

I am looking forward to staying in touch and being of service.  Please feel free to contact me at (212) 870-3282 if you have any questions.

In the meantime, this comes to you with gratitude and best wishes.

In fellowship,

Julio
